EMBRACE THE CULTURE
EXTRAORDINARY TEAM OF PASSIONATE COACHES, AND ADMINISTRATORS
FOUNDER / CEO
Corey L. Stokes Sr.
As a coach and skill development trainer, I have learned that basketball is more than just a game. It teaches discipline, teamwork, and perseverance - all valuable life skills that can be applied both on and off the court. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work with players of all skill levels and ages, from 2nd graders just starting out to high schoolers with college aspirations.
Through my work with the Vipers Basketball Youth Foundation, I've seen firsthand the impact that organized sports can have on young people. Not only does it provide a healthy outlet for physical activity, but it also teaches important social skills such as communication and leadership.
In my coaching career, I've experienced both the highs and lows of the game. Undefeated seasons are certainly a thrill, but it's the difficult seasons with painful losing streaks that truly test a coach's mettle. In those moments, it's important to remember that winning isn't everything - what's more important is instilling a love of the game and a desire to improve in each and every player.
As I continue to coach and train young athletes, I remain committed to helping them develop not just their basketball skills, but also their character and leadership abilities. Whether they go on to play at the college level or simply carry the lessons they've learned on the court into their everyday lives, I know that the time and effort I've invested in them will have a lasting impact.
COACH
James Edwards
James D. Edwards III instructional coach and mentor for the Vipers Basketball Youth Foundation. I’m a Physical Education Teachers Assistant that recognizes the need for more athletic and educational platforms in the area. Coaching and mentoring has been a passion since an adolescent, working with today’s youth is in line with my goals and purpose.
Attending West Virginia Wesleyan majoring in Athletic Training offered me the opportunity to be around multiple sports and athletes. The skills and practicum for each sport demands a variety of techniques for rehab and unorthodox training methods. Utilization of these techniques helps develop players from beginner to novice within a few months.
High School coaches and educators are essential when dealing with tomorrow’s future leaders. Equipping youth with skills and a curriculum that helps them shine in this global market is essential. Keeping them mindful of their goals and encouraging them to be leaders and stand out amongst the crowd.
